[08-04-2024] Alameda County, CA – One Person Killed After Pedestrian Vs. Vehicle Hit-And-Run Crash Involving DUI in Fremont

One person was killed after a pedestrian vs. vehicle hit-and-run crash involving DUI in Fremont on Sunday night, August 4, 2024.

According to the Fremont Police Department, the fatal accident occurred around 8:40 p.m. along Mission Boulevard near Nursery Avenue in Fremont’s Niles district.

Police said that 29-year-old Brian G. from Hayward was driving an unspecified vehicle while intoxicated when he struck a man who was jogging northbound along Mission Boulevard before fleeing on foot. Medical responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene shortly upon arrival.

After receiving a phone call from the police, Brian G. reportedly turned himself in. By 9:59 p.m. on the same date, he was arrested by the police in Hayward. He was then booked into Santa Rita Jail on Monday morning on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run, causing bodily injury.

Further information about the victim’s identity, including his name and age, was not immediately provided.

Police work is underway.
