[08-03-2024] One Person Killed After Bicycle Vs. Vehicle Hit-And-Run Collision Along American AvenueOne person was killed after a bicycle vs. truck hit-and-run collision in Fresno County on Saturday morning, August 3, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident happened just after 5:30 a.m. along American Avenue between Chestnut and Maple Avenues.

CHP stated that a bicyclist was going east on American Avenue using the eastbound lane just west of Chester Avenue. At the same time, a black Chevrolet pickup truck was believed to be swerving along the same roadway. The Chevy struck the bicyclist on the roadway’s shoulder before leaving the scene without the driver calling for help.

A witness to the crash, another bicyclist, helped the victim to safety while waiting for the responding officials. The victim, whose name, age, and gender were not provided, was taken to the hospital but later died due to her injuries.

The authorities are still on the hunt for the hit-and-run driver. They have yet to release an official description of the suspect.
