[07-30-2024] Los Angeles County, CA – At Least One Person Injured After Pursuit Led To Multi-Vehicle Pileup Involving DUI in Hollywood

At least one person was injured after a pursuit led to a multi-vehicle pileup involving a DUI in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash happened around 4:16 p.m. at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Bronson Avenue, along 101 Freeway in Hollywood.

Police responded to reports of a suspect possibly driving under the influence on the freeway. The responding officers tried to stop a white pickup truck, but it started driving the wrong way, prompting a pursuit.

While in a police chase, the suspect vehicle slammed into more than a dozen cars on the roadway, resulting in damages and possible injuries to the involved parties. Shortly after, it ran a red light on Hollywood Boulevard at Bronson, hitting another motorist. That victim was identified as Alejandro C., and possible injuries were being examined.

Police quickly got out of their patrol cars with firearms drawn and commanded the suspect to get out of the vehicle. The suspect pulled aside the pickup truck’s airbags and stumbled out onto the street, where he was finally arrested.

The suspect was transported to the hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department medical staff after sustaining minor injuries. His name and age were not immediately disclosed. A field sobriety test would be performed to verify whether the suspect is under the influence of alcohol.

Additional information on the crash has yet to be released. Police work is underway.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
