[07-26-2026] Kern County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Bakersfield

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by an unknown vehicle on Di Giorgio Road in Bakersfield late Sunday night, July 26, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched to the incident at around 11:58 p.m. at the intersection of Di Giorgio Road and May Street.

Authorities said a male pedestrian was walking westbound on the right shoulder of the roadway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling on the shoulder. The driver involved did not remain at the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead following the incident. CHP has not released a description of the suspect vehicle, and it remains unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
