[07-25-2024] One Person Killed, Another Injured After Two-Vehicle Hit-And-Run Collision in Cathedral CityOne person was killed, and another was injured following a two-vehicle hit-and-run collision in Cathedral City on Thursday evening, July 25, 2024. 

According to the Cathedral City Police Department, the crash happened around 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of East Palm Canyon and Monty Hall drives. 

Details on how the collision occurred were not disclosed, but the vehicle that caused the incident reportedly fled eastward without calling for a rescue.

A person involved in the crash suffered moderated injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. It is unknown if that individual was a driver or a passenger of the other vehicle. 

Shortly after, a separate collision was reported on East Palm Canyon Drive. Officers determined that the driver involved was the same one that had caused the first crash. As per the investigation, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and made contact with the hillside south of the roadway.

The driver of the hit-and-run vehicle, identified as 56-year-old Paul D. was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he died. It is unknown if drugs, alcohol, or speeding contributed to the collision. The cause of the incident remains unclear. 

No further details were released. The investigation continues.
