Two people were killed when a pickup truck overturned and caught fire on eastbound Interstate 10 near Mecca, Riverside County on Thursday morning, July 24, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 10:00 a.m. west of the Cactus City rest stop.
CHP Officer David Torres reported that a Ford pickup, traveling in the No. 2 lane at unconfirmed speeds, made an unsafe turning movement towards the right shoulder and overturned.
The truck was fully engulfed in flames, and the two occupants inside were pronounced dead at the scene.
As of late Thursday morning, two lanes of the freeway remained blocked while CHP investigated the crash. No further details were available.
