A crash involving a semi and a pickup truck temporarily blocked lanes on Highway 99 near Houghton Road in Bakersfield on Thursday afternoon, July 24, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 99. Part of the pickup truck reportedly crashed through the center divider into the southbound lanes. The semi truck came to a stop off the road on the northbound side. CHP reported that five vehicles may have been involved in the crash.
The crash temporarily blocked the #1 southbound lane and the #3 northbound lane, but both lanes were reopened by 5:20 p.m.
The extent of injuries, if any, was not immediately known. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
