[07-22-2026] Amador County, CA – One Dead in Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 104 in Ione

One person was killed following a three-vehicle crash on Highway 104 in Ione, Amador County, on Wednesday morning, July 22, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the incident at around 7:18 a.m. north of Five Mile Drive. 

A northbound Tesla crossed into the southbound lanes, sideswiping a Honda and then colliding head-on with a Cadillac.

Authorities reported that a 2-year-old, who was a passenger in the Tesla, was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Drivers of the Honda and Cadillac were also transported for moderate injuries. 

The cause of the Tesla crossing into oncoming traffic is still under investigation.
