A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle while lying in the roadway in South Los Angeles early Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of Western Avenue and 54th Street. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued south on Western Avenue.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. She was believed to be approximately 50 years old, according to officials.
Police said the woman had been lying on the road at the time of the crash. A Metro bus driver later came upon the scene and reported the woman down, though it remains unclear whether the bus was involved in the incident.
No description of the suspect vehicle has been released. The investigation is ongoing.
