A man in his 50s was killed after being struck by a pickup truck while riding a tricycle in Tulare County early Tuesday morning, July 21, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. on Avenue 120 east of Road 144 near Pixley.
Authorities said the unidentified man was riding a tricycle westbound in the traffic lane during dark conditions when he was struck by a westbound pickup truck approaching from behind.
The impact ejected the tricycle rider, who came to rest on the roadway. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. CHP reported that the tricycle lacked safety and reflective equipment.
The pickup truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol or drug use is not suspected to have contributed to the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
