[07-21-2024] Alameda County, CA – Two People Killed, Another Injured Following Single-Vehicle Collision in Livermore

Two people were killed, while another was injured following a single-vehicle collision in Livermore early Sunday morning, July 21, 2024.

According to the Livermore Police Department, the deadly incident happened just before 2:30 a.m. at South Vasco Road near Naylor Avenue.

Initial investigations indicated that a black Hyundai carrying three people, a man, his girlfriend, and their child, was traveling northbound on South Vasco Road, north of Las Positas Road. For some reason, the Hyundai drove off the roadway and slammed into a nearby tree before being fully engulfed in flames.

The 25-year-old man, who the officers pulled out of the burning car, was taken to the hospital along with the 5-year-old child. However, the man’s girlfriend and the mother of the child, only described as a 24-year-old woman, died at the scene.

Moments after arriving at the hospital, the child succumbed to their injuries, leaving only the man as the sole survivor of the accident. As of Monday evening, the man is listed in critical condition.

All three people involved were reportedly from Manteca. Police said that the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau will release the identities of the deceased mother and child at a later time.

The official cause of the single-vehicle collision is still under investigation. As of now, it is unknown if alcohol, drugs, or speeding played a role.

No further information was immediately available. LPD is still investigating.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
