A 20-year-old man was killed in a suspected DUI crash involving a single vehicle in Madera County on Sunday night, July 20, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Road 35 near Avenue 14.
Authorities said 19-year-old Manuel G. was driving a Nissan at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle.
The car veered off the roadway, struck a power pole on the shoulder, and overturned. The passenger, a 20-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers stated the passenger was wearing a seatbelt. His identity has not yet been released.
Manuel G. was reportedly under the influence at the time of the crash. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment and will be booked into the Madera County Jail following his release.
The crash remains under investigation.
