[07-20-2024] Alameda County, CA – Two People Injured Following Freeway Rollover Crash Along I-80 in Berkeley

[07-20-2024] Two People Injured Following Freeway Rollover Crash Along I-80 in BerkeleyTwo people were injured following a freeway rollover crash in Berkeley early Saturday morning, July 20, 2024.

According to the Berkeley Fire Department, the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. along Interstate 80 between University Avenue and Gilman Street.

Initial reports indicate that a Toyota 4Runner driven by an unnamed 45-year-old man was traveling eastbound on I-80 when, for some reason, it crashed through the guardrail on the freeway’s right shoulder and onto Eastshore Highway.

The vehicle reportedly rolled over multiple times, slamming several electrical boxes along the way. Authorities said the Toyota rolled back into the freeway and somehow came to rest upright on its wheels.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the male driver trapped inside the Toyota, unresponsive but visibly breathing. They used extrication equipment to free the injured driver from the wreckage and rushed him to Highland Hospital for immediate medical care. He was listed in critical condition.

Authorities later confirmed that another person reported injuries as a result of the incident. It is said that an occupant of another vehicle was somehow affected by the collision and was also transported to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

No further information was immediately available, and the authorities are still gathering all the necessary details to determine the factors leading up to the violent crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
