[07-17-2025] One Airlifted, Dog Killed After Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 247 in Yucca ValleyOne person was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Yucca Valley, San Bernardino County, on Thursday morning, July 17, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Highway 247, also known as Old Woman Springs Road, between Linn Road and Ornelas Lane. 

Emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department found one individual suffering from head trauma and internal injuries.

The injured person was initially transported by ground ambulance and then airlifted from the Yucca Valley Airport around 11:48 a.m. 

A silver Saturn Ion was found with major front-end damage, resting off the roadway in a desert embankment. A black 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was discovered overturned on its side with significant undercarriage damage and a torn soft top.

Southbound lanes were blocked at Oleta Road due to debris and emergency response. Two tow trucks were called at 11:51 a.m. for vehicle removal.

Animal control was requested after a deceased dog was found at the scene. It is currently unclear which vehicle the animal had been in.

No further details have been released regarding the cause of the crash or the current condition of the injured party. The Barstow CHP office is leading the investigation.
