[07-16-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Truck in Covina, Driver Arrested

An 81-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a truck on North Citrus Avenue in Covina, Los Angeles County, on Thursday evening, July 16, 2026.

According to the Covina Police Department, first responders arrived around 7 p.m. and found the victim in a marked crosswalk near Covina Boulevard. 

The pedestrian was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead later that evening.

Investigators determined that a Chevrolet truck struck the pedestrian and fled the scene. Using FLOCK automated license plate reader cameras, authorities identified the vehicle and its driver.

The driver, 66-year-old Anton S., was arrested at his home and booked on suspicion of hit-and-run causing death and vehicular manslaughter. The driver is scheduled to appear in West Covina Superior Court on Tuesday, July 21.

The investigation remains ongoing.
