A woman was killed and a man suffered major injuries in a motorcycle crash in Santa Cruz County on Wednesday night, July 16, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. on northbound Highway 1 at Highway 129. Authorities said the driver of a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle lost control, causing the vehicle to exit the roadway.
The motorcycle overturned, ejecting both the driver and the passenger. A 65-year-old woman from San Jose, identified as the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 59-year-old man also from San Jose, sustained major injuries and was transported to Natividad Medical Center for treatment.
CHP stated that alcohol and/or drugs are being investigated as possible factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
