A six-vehicle crash on the 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights shut down lanes and caused traffic delays near downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, July 14, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported around 8:26 a.m. Firefighters arrived and performed lifesaving measures on a person who was unresponsive.
Authorities confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second individual was transported to a hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
