A driver was killed after their disabled vehicle was struck by a big rig on the southbound I-15 Freeway near Hodge Road in Barstow on Monday night, July 14, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 9:07 p.m. just south of Hodge Road.
A 2023 Honda Civic Sport had reportedly stalled and was stopped in a traffic lane when it was hit by an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer.
The collision caused heavy debris to scatter across multiple lanes, resulting in significant traffic delays. Despite emergency life-saving efforts, the driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports described the vehicle as an “unknown gray or blue sedan” blocking the No. 2 lane before it was confirmed to be a 2023 Honda Civic Sport. A witness was seen using a spotlight to signal the vehicle’s location just before the crash occurred.
The identity of the deceased has not been released. The cause of the vehicle becoming disabled and the fatal crash is under investigation.
