[07-14-2024] One Person Killed, Another Injured Following Two-Vehicle DUI Collision in ModestoOne person was killed, while another was injured following a two-vehicle DUI collision in Modesto on Sunday morning, July 14, 2024.

According to the Modesto Police Department, the crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. along West Hatch Road, just south of the Tuolumne River.

MPD said that two people occupied one of the vehicles involved, while the other only had its driver at the time of the accident. It is still unclear how the two vehicles crashed into each other and what their make or model was.

It has since been reported that the driver of the vehicle that had two occupants died as a result of the crash. The name, age, and gender of the deceased were not provided at this time.

Only one other person reportedly sustained minor injuries. It is not immediately known if the injured person was the one with the deceased driver or the lone driver of the other car. Their identity has not yet been revealed.

The official cause of the incident is still under investigation. MPD is currently looking at the possible involvement of alcohol as the main factor in the deadly collision.

No further information is available at the moment. The authorities will provide further details as the investigation progresses.
