INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT?

[07-12-2024] Monterey County, CA – Female Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle Along Highway 1

A female pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Monterey County on Friday afternoon, July 12, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision occurred at about 5:18 p.m. along Highway 1 near the Soberanes Canyon Trailhead.

CHP stated that a Ford F150 occupied by a female driver and a passenger was traveling northbound on Highway 1 when suddenly a woman stepped in front of their vehicle. It is said that the driver tried avoiding the pedestrian but could not do so.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the responding officials. Her name, age, and place of origin are being withheld pending the notification of next of kin. At the time of writing, it is still unclear what she was doing along the roadway prior to the accident.

Meanwhile, the vehicle’s driver remained at the scene with her passenger. The officers said both of them were cooperative and appeared to be uninjured immediately following the incident.

The official cause of the crash is still under investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor.

No additional information was immediately available.
