[07-11-2024] Two People Killed, Another Hospitalized After Single-Vehicle Crash on Highway 273 Near AndersonTwo people were killed, while another was hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash near Anderson early Thursday morning, July 11, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. along Highway 273 at Happy Valley Road.

When CHP arrived at the scene, they found the reported vehicle smoking and on fire. It is still unclear how the crash happened and if alcohol, drugs, or speeding was involved.

A passenger of the crashed vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after medical personnel arrived. The driver, meanwhile, was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment but succumbed to their injuries moments later. The names, ages, and genders of the two people who died will be released by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office after their respective families have been notified.

Officers then confirmed that another passenger survived the deadly collision. The surviving passenger, later identified as 35-year-old Daniel B., was also hospitalized after sustaining major injuries, including a broken left leg.

Additional information was not immediately available. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
