A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Mission Hills, Los Angeles County, on early Tuesday morning, July 9, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 1:23 a.m. on the northbound Golden State Freeway and the San Fernando Mission off-ramp.
Authorities stated that a pedestrian was found lying on the freeway’s middle lanes after colliding with an unspecified vehicle. The victim, whose name, gender, or age were not immediately known, suffered major injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
There is no word yet on whether the driver cooperated with the investigation or fled the scene following the crash. It is also unknown what the victim was doing on the freeway prior to the incident. Drugs, alcohol, and speeding were being investigated as possible factors in the collision.
The police are still investigating the official cause of the crash.
