INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT?

[07-07-2024] Orange County, CA – Five People Injured Following Suspected Bicycle Vs. Vehicle DUI Collision in Garden Grove

Five people were injured following a suspected bicycle vs. vehicle DUI collision in Garden Grove on Sunday evening, July 7, 2024. 

According to the Garden Grove Police Department, the crash happened around 7:35 p.m. in the 12300 block of Haster Street at Twin Tree Lane. 

Authorities stated that a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were riding on electric bicycles with their three children, two girls and one boy, in tow when a black 2003 Toyota Camry struck them. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without helping the victims. A nearby witness followed the suspect vehicle and told the police of its possible location.

One adult and two children were immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, the other adult and one child were also sent to the hospital with stable vital signs. 

The responding officers located the vehicle and found the suspect approximately 1.2 miles from the initial crash scene. They identified the hit-and-run driver as a 29-year-old male resident of Santa Ana. He was arrested for suspected DUI and hit-and-run.

No further information was released. Investigations are ongoing.
