A 15-year-old boy died after an ATV crash along the San Joaquin Riverbed in Fresno County on Sunday evening, July 6, 2025.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near where San Mateo Avenue dead ends north of Highway 180.
Authorities said two 15-year-old boys were riding an ATV when the driver lost control, causing both to be ejected into the water.
According to officers, the passenger was not wearing a helmet, and the ATV landed on top of him. The teen was initially taken to a home in Mendota at the family’s request, but was later airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center due to severe pain. He later died at the hospital.
The driver and his family are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Authorities said alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
