Two pedestrians suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in San Diego’s Teralta West neighborhood on Saturday evening, July 5, 2025.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred around 5:06 p.m. at the intersection of 42nd Street and Orange Avenue.
A 43-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man were walking within a marked crosswalk from the north to the south side of Orange Avenue when they were hit by a 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 19-year-old woman heading north on 42nd Street.
The female pedestrian sustained a broken pelvis along with leg and back pain. The male pedestrian suffered head injuries and neck pain.
The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene. Authorities stated that alcohol was not believed to be a factor, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
