[07-04-2026] San Diego County, CA – Crash Closes I-8 to I-805 Connector Ramp in Mission Valley

A crash temporarily closed the transition from westbound Interstate 8 to southbound Interstate 805 in Mission Valley, San Diego County, on Saturday afternoon, July 4, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported shortly after 12:30 p.m. on the westbound I-8 connector ramp to southbound I-805.

Initial reports indicated that a vehicle struck a concrete barrier before coming to rest on a grassy embankment along the right shoulder. Later reports stated the vehicle struck a large pole and overturned. The exact circumstances of the crash have not been confirmed.

CHP dispatch logs indicated that three people exited the vehicle after the crash. Witnesses reported seeing three teenagers or young adults leaving the area, but authorities have not confirmed additional details. It was not immediately known whether anyone was injured.

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
