A bicyclist sustained serious injuries in a collision with a vehicle in Escondido on Friday night, July 4, 2025.
According to the Escondido Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 8:42 p.m. at the intersection of North Centre City Parkway and Mission Avenue.
Officials said the bicyclist was riding eastbound in a crosswalk against a red light when he collided with a silver van traveling northbound.
The driver of the van stopped at the scene and cooperated with responding authorities.
The bicyclist was transported to Palomar Medical Center with significant injuries.
Alcohol was not considered a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
