[07-03-2026] Sutter County, CA – Driver Arrested After Vehicle Strikes Safety Barriers Near Crowd in Yuba City

A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a vehicle crashed near a crowd gathered for fireworks in Yuba City, Sutter County, on Friday night, July 3, 2026.

According to the Yuba City Police Department, officers responded around 9:37 p.m. to Feather River Parkway after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck people watching pyrotechnics at Beckwourth Riverfront Park across the river in Marysville.

Authorities said the investigation determined that a white vehicle driven by 30-year-old Hirly G. of Marysville struck concrete safety bollards near the levee by the 10th Street Bridge. Witnesses detained the driver until officers arrived.

Police said the driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was later booked into the Sutter County Jail on allegations including felony DUI, child abuse, and driving without a license.

An adult male suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries and declined medical treatment. A toddler who was reportedly being held by the man during the crash was transported to Adventist Health and Rideout for evaluation and was not injured.

The Yuba City Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
