An 11-year-old child was seriously injured following an e-bike crash in El Dorado Hills, El Dorado County, on Monday morning, June 30, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 11:24 a.m. at the intersection of Serrano Parkway and El Dorado Hills Boulevard.
Two 11-year-olds were riding a moped-style e-bike when they lost control during a turn, causing a wipeout.
Authorities said the child who was driving the e-bike struck their head on a pole and was knocked unconscious. The passenger managed to jump away from the crash and was uninjured. Both children were wearing helmets at the time of the incident.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
