[06-29-2025] San Bernardino County, CA – One Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 15 Near Zzyzx Road in Barstow

At least one person was killed in a wrong-way collision that shut down southbound Interstate 15 near Zzyzx Road in Barstow early Sunday morning, June 29, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 4:22 a.m. and involved at least two vehicles.

One of the vehicles had reportedly been traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway before the collision.

A red Kia sedan was located down an embankment along the right-hand shoulder, while another vehicle was described as heavily damaged and “crumpled,” according to CHP radio communications.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene at 5:28 a.m., confirming at least one fatality.

The names of the individuals involved have not yet been released. The crash remains under investigation.
