An elderly man was injured following a rear-end collision on state Route 94 in San Diego, early Saturday morning, June 28, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 5:00 a.m. on the westbound side of SR-94 near 25th Street.
A hatchback driver told authorities that his vehicle was clipped by a truck with a camper shell attempting to exit the freeway. The truck’s driver reportedly sped off without stopping.
Moments later, another sedan driven by an elderly man rear-ended the hatchback, which had spun out and come to a stop in traffic. The impact left both vehicles disabled and prompted CHP to temporarily close all westbound lanes.
The driver of the hatchback was uninjured, while the elderly driver who rear-ended him was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
