[06-20-2024] San Diego County, CA – 35-Year-Old Male Rider Killed After Motorcycle Accident Along I-5 in Torrey Pines Area

[06-20-2024] 35-Year-Old Male Rider Killed After Motorcycle Accident Along I-5 in Torrey Pines AreaA 35-year-old male rider was killed after a motorcycle accident in San Diego in the early hours of Thursday, June 20, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened just after 1:00 a.m. on Interstate 5 near Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the male motorcyclist was riding along I-5 just south of Carmel Valley Road on an Indian-brand two-wheeler. He then rear-ended a Mini Cooper for still-unknown reasons, which threw him off his motorcycle and onto the roadway.

While tumbling on the roadway immediately following the initial crash, the 35-year-old rider was struck by an oncoming Nissan Sentra, injuring him even further.

First responders were able to take the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin. It is not immediately known why he rear-ended the Mini Cooper.

There is no word yet on whether the driver of the two other vehicles was involved or if either of them was injured.

The southbound side of I-5 was blocked off around the crash site for about 2 hours.

No further information was provided at this time. The authorities are currently examining all the evidence they can find on-scene to determine the cause of the accident.

An investigation is underway.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
