[06-20-2024] Rider Killed Following Motorcycle Vs. Vehicle Collision Along Highway 29A rider was killed following a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision in Napa County on Thursday morning, June 20, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:42 a.m. along Highway 29 near Manley Lane in Oakville.

Authorities stated that a rider, whose name, age, and gender were not disclosed, was riding north on the freeway when they passed over the double yellow lines. As a result, an oncoming southbound Mercedes collided head-on with the motorcyclist. The rider suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that the deceased will be identified pending notification of the family. It is unclear whether or not the driver of the Mercedes sustained injuries. DUI is not suspected as a factor in this fatal collision. 

The responding officers issued an alert at around 7 a.m. for further investigation. The public is advised to use alternative routes than Highway 29. Another alert was issued after the lanes reopened. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the authorities and help with the ongoing investigation. 

No further information was released.
