[06-18-2024] One Person Killed Following Vehicle Vs. Semi-Truck Collision Along I-10 in Desert CenterOne person was killed following a vehicle vs. semi-truck collision in Desert Center, Riverside County, on early Tuesday morning, June 18, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 12:55 a.m. on the eastbound I-10, west of Eagle Mountain Road. 

Authorities stated that they had received a report that a vehicle had slammed into a tractor-trailer. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames after the crash but details on how the incident occurred were still undisclosed. 

Police said that one person inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown whether that individual is a driver or passenger of the involved vehicle. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck was uninjured. 

It is still unclear if anyone else sustained injuries in the crash, as the total number of involved individuals has not yet been released. The cause of the crash is being investigated. It is not yet known whether drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role. 

Further information on the fiery collision has yet to be disclosed by the responding authorities. 

Investigations are ongoing.
