[06-16-2024] Three People Injured Following Pursuit Led To Reckless Multi-Vehicle Collision on Niles StreetThree people were injured following a pursuit that led to a reckless multi-vehicle collision in Bakersfield on early Sunday morning, June 16, 2024. 

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the crash happened around 12:10 a.m. in the area of Mount Vernon and Niles Street.

Authorities stated that a 22-year-old driver of a vehicle failed to yield to the officers, initiating a pursuit. The vehicle then struck several vehicles along the road, one was hit on Oswell Street, and another two parked cars in the parking lot of Stella’s Sandtrap. 

Police said that the suspect vehicle then continued eastbound and struck a third vehicle parked along the west wall of the business. The parked vehicle was pushed into the interior of Stella’s Sandtrap and struck three people inside. 

Two people sustained minor injuries, and the third victim was transported to a hospital with complaints of pain. Details on their identities were not available as of yet. The 22-year-old driver, identified as Manuel G, was arrested after the pursuit. 

Further information has yet to be released. Investigations are ongoing.
