Two women were injured in a head-on collision east of Watsonville early Thursday morning, June 12, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Highway 129 (Riverside Road) near Thompson Road.
The women were traveling in a Kia sedan that was attempting a left turn from Thompson Road onto Highway 129 when it was struck head-on by a westbound Ford Ranger pickup carrying two men. The impact forced the Kia off the roadway into a ditch and caused the Ford to overturn onto its roof.
Both women were transported to area hospitals. The two men in the Ford were not injured, according to authorities.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the CHP.
