[06-09-2026] Kern County, CA – Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle in Bakersfield

A man was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on Golden State Avenue in Bakersfield on Tuesday night, June 9, 2026.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident was reported around 10:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of Golden State Avenue.

Authorities stated that the pedestrian was crossing outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a white Toyota hatchback.

The injured man was transported to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Officials reported that driver impairment and excessive speed do not appear to have been factors in the collision.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
