[06-09-2024] Six People Hospitalized Following Vehicle Collision Along I-10 Near Desert CenterSix people were hospitalized following a vehicle collision near Desert Center, Riverside County, on Sunday morning, June 9, 2024.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the traffic incident occurred at about 11:11 a.m. along Interstate 10, east of Riverside.

Details surrounding the crash are still unclear, but one vehicle had reportedly overturned in the center divide. The situation following the accident appeared so serious that three air ambulances and two ground ambulances were called to the scene.

Authorities said that four juveniles and two adults were involved, all of whom were injured. One adult and one juvenile were airlifted while the other adult, along with three other juveniles, were taken to a nearby hospital via ground ambulance. The identities of the individuals involved and their current statuses aren’t available at this time.

Westbound lanes on I-10 were momentarily blocked to ensure that all responding aircraft could land safely. Immediately after the debris was cleared, all lanes were reopened.

The cause of the vehicular accident is still under investigation.
