[06-08-2026] Ventura County, CA – Man Killed After Chevrolet Tahoe Crashes into Embankment on Southbound Highway 101

A man was killed following a crash on southbound Highway 101 in Ventura on Monday evening, June 8, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, dispatchers received multiple calls about a two-vehicle collision around 10:54 p.m., just north of California Street.

First responders found a tan 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe in an embankment west of the highway, and the male driver was unresponsive inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:15 p.m.

Initial reports indicate that the Tahoe was traveling in the number 1 lane at a high rate of speed when it veered to the right for reasons still under investigation. The vehicle sideswiped a Volvo SUV before continuing into the embankment and colliding with trees.

It is currently unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal collision.
