[06-08-2024] One Person Killed, Another Injured Following Suspected ATV DUI Crash in Lucerne One person was killed, and another was injured following a suspected ATV DUI crash in Lucerne, Lake County, on Saturday evening, June 8, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7:20 p.m. on Bartlett Springs Road near Forest Route 15. 

Authorities stated that a 41-year-old man and his 13-year-old son were riding an ATV along Bartlett Springs Road when their vehicle rolled off the roadway. The father was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the boy sustained minor injuries and was able to walk along the road to ask for help. 

Police said the boy was picked up at around 9:00 p.m. and was transported to an out-of-county hospital via ambulance. Upon their arrival at the scene, the ATV was found down an embankment. Officers said that the father and son had most likely been camping in the area where the collision took place.

The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol was believed to be a factor of the collision. Additional details on the collision have yet to be released by the authorities. 

Investigations are ongoing.
