A major crash involving five vehicles closed both directions of Highway 101 near San Miguel, San Luis Obispo County, on Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2026.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 3 p.m. near Highway 101 and 10th Street after a tire blowout on a truck towing a trailer sparked a roadside vegetation fire.
The fire burned approximately 4 acres and produced heavy smoke, reducing visibility and leading to a chain-reaction collision involving 5 vehicles.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash and the circumstances surrounding the vegetation fire.
