One person was killed, and two others were injured following a head-on collision just east of Auburn in Placer County on Saturday evening, June 6, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Foresthill Road between Lincoln Way and Old Foresthill Road, involving a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Tacoma.
Authorities stated that the front passenger of the Corolla was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Corolla sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. A two-year-old child riding in a car seat in the Corolla was uninjured.
Investigators determined that the driver of the Tacoma was at fault for the collision and is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to a hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
