[06-06-2025] Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Big Rigs Shuts Down Capital City Freeway Near Watt AvenueA crash involving two big rigs and a car caused a major traffic disruption in Sacramento County on Friday morning, June 6, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened on the southbound Capital City Freeway, just south of Watt Avenue and the I-80 merge, at approximately 6:30 a.m. 

A white semi reportedly jackknifed across multiple lanes and began leaking diesel after colliding with another big rig hauling a white trailer. A silver Honda was also involved in the crash.

Emergency crews responded quickly to contain the diesel spill, which remained confined to the roadway. CHP issued a SigAlert, warning of heavy congestion stretching as far back as Greenback Lane, and advised commuters to use alternate routes like I-80 west to I-5 south.

No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
