[05-31-2024] One Person Killed Following Pedestrian Vs. Vehicle Hit-And-Run Collision in GilroyOne person was killed following a pedestrian vs. vehicle hit-and-run collision in Gilroy on Friday night, May 31, 2024.

According to the Gilroy Police Department, the fatal crash happened at about 10:50 a.m. in the area of First Street and Eigleberry Street.

Upon arriving at the crash site, police found the victim with severe injuries in the roadway. He was then rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. The identity of the victim was not available at this time.

The vehicle that struck the victim, meanwhile, was nowhere to be found. It is said that the suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored sedan, was last seen heading westbound on First Street. Police said that it most likely had significant damage on its body as a result of the incident.

No further details were immediately available. The police are still examining all the evidence they can find to determine the factors that may have contributed to the deadly collision.
