[05-31-2024] One Person Killed Following Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 101 in Palo Alto One person was killed following a multi-vehicle collision in Palo Alto on early Friday morning, May 31, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:55 a.m. on Highway 101 in the northbound direction just north of the San Antonio Road exit. 

CHP said that a red SUV hit an object along the roadway, causing it to become disabled. While the SUV was in traffic, a silver sedan came in and crashed into the back of the SUV. Another collision happened when a tractor struck the SUV, resulting in the driver being pulled along by the vehicle.

The driver, identified only as a man whose age ranges from 25 to 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of the other drivers is unknown. 

As a result of the collision, all lanes were closed, and at approximately 3:30 a.m., the CHP issued a Sig Alert for heavy traffic. The CHP reported that by 7:45 a.m., all lanes had reopened, with the far left lane reopening at 5:25 a.m. 

Further details on the crash have yet to be released by the authorities. Investigations are ongoing.
