[05-31-2024] Five People Injured Following Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Bus on Highway 17 Near Los GatosFive people were injured following a multi-vehicle crash involving a bus near Los Gatos, Santa Clara County, on Friday morning, May 31, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 7:15 a.m. on northbound Highway 17 near the Cats Statues.

Authorities stated that a Highway 17 Express Santa Cruz Metro bus lost control and collided with at least six vehicles, including a gold SUV, a white van, a white work truck, and a brown Jeep. One vehicle engulfed in flames during the collision, and a female occupant in the gold SUV, who appeared to be pregnant, sustained injuries. 

Four people on the bus, including the driver, were also injured. The extent of injuries and their conditions were not immediately known. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene and aid the victims. 

At around 11:26 a.m., the bus was towed, and the passengers were transported by another bus to their destinations. All lanes on Highway 17 were opened before noon. 

Further details on the crash have yet to be released by the authorities. Investigations are ongoing.
