Two collisions involving big rigs caused traffic delays on northbound Interstate 5 in Patterson, Stanislaus County, on Thursday morning, May 28, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the first crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. near Fink Road when a single big rig veered off the road and overturned. No injuries were reported in this incident.
A second collision occurred at approximately 6:10 a.m. near Sperry Road, about three miles south of the first crash. Authorities reported that four big-rig trucks were involved in a chain-reaction crash after a driver lost control on slick, rainy roads. Minor injuries were reported.
Due to diesel and oil spills from the vehicles, the incidents were treated as hazardous-materials situations. The right lane was closed for about three miles while crews worked to clear the roadway, and drivers were advised to expect heavy delays.
Authorities continue to investigate both crashes.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
