A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in San Diego on Monday night, May 27, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened at about 9:01 p.m. along State Route 94, east of the San Diego (5) Freeway transition.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found the victim’s body covered in a blanket in one of the lanes closer to Interstate 5. We have yet to learn the name, age, and origin of the victim.
Multiple vehicles reportedly pulled over in response to the incident. One vehicle was seen along the center divider of the highway facing the wrong way. It is still unknown if that vehicle was the one that hit the pedestrian dead.
All lanes moving through the crash site were eventually closed. Incoming traffic was redirected as the authorities investigated and cleared up the scene.
Additional information was not immediately available, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
