[05-26-2024] Lake County, CA – 23-Year-Old Woman Killed Following Pedestrian Vs. Suspected DUI Vehicle Collision Involving Hit-And-Run on Highway 53

[05-26-2024] 23-Year-Old Woman Killed Following Pedestrian Vs. Suspected DUI Vehicle Collision Involving Hit-And-Run on Highway 53A 23-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle near Clearlake on early Sunday morning, May 26, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 1:53 a.m. on Highway 53 north of Anderson Ranch Parkway. 

Authorities stated that a Clearlake woman was found lying in the northbound lane of SR-53 following a collision with a vehicle. Emergency personnel provided life-saving measures to the victim, but she had already died of her injuries. Evidence showed that the vehicle was traveling northbound in the No. 2 lane when it struck the victim. 

Police said that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and refused to report the incident. Alcohol impairment is believed to be the factor in the collision. 

No further details were released by the authorities. The investigation continues.
