[05-25-2026] Amador County, CA – One Killed, Two Injured After Head-On Collision in Pine Grove

A driver was killed after crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding with two vehicles on Ridge Road near Sandar Road in Pine Grove, Amador County, on Monday, May 25, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4 p.m. when an eastbound Honda Civic veered into the westbound lanes. 

Authorities reported that a Chevy Traverse attempted to swerve out of the way but was sideswiped, and a GMC Sierra was struck head-on as the Honda continued traveling eastbound.

The Honda driver was transported to a hospital but later died. The driver and passengers of the GMC Sierra sustained minor to moderate injuries, while the occupants of the Chevy Traverse were unharmed.

CHP officials stated that the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet known why the Honda entered oncoming traffic. 

Investigators are also determining whether alcohol or drugs were a factor. No further details were immediately available.
